We all bow
Often, when I hear God I look at my life allowing His Holy Spirit to search me then bring confession and repentance to Him. I have to say lately, God has been speaking to me on the issue of worship. And I know why. My people he says have made me different from I AM. They have turned in worship of things created by hands.
We are too civilized nowadays to set up things we bow to. We bow though…
We bow to success
we bow to sports
we bow to food
We bow to cars
We bow to relationships
We bow to shoes
We bow to our own self
Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other God before me.
Deuteronomy 5:7 You will have no other God before me.
I have noticed how easy it is in my life to remove God from His place while replacing it with my children or whatever else. It’s sly the way good things become bad things. How a job that’s good becomes my life. It’s sly how good food become bad when it has all my attention. It’s wicked how family becomes bad when I fear them more than God. It’s devious how my iPhone takes over when I panic at not seeing it. Our enemy is sly in his attack. I have to be on the lookout.
I wonder friends if you notice the one-degree shift that will derail your entire ship too. Will you join me with the Holy Spirit on the lookout? Let us together run with eyes focused on Jesus Christ towards his heart.
Therefore my dear friends, flee from idolatry. 1 Corinthians 10:14
